Leema Creations, the renowned and foremost interior solution provider and furniture manufacturer, joined forces with the Vocational Training Authority (VTA), as a part of the company’s CSR drive, by signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on March 14, to provide practical training to technical and vocational education students.

Dr. Seetha Arambepola, State Minister of Skills Development, Vocational Education, Research & Innovation, was the chief guest, with Ministry Secretary Deepa Lyanage and VTA Chairman Eranga Basnayaka also in attendance at the ceremony. The Founder Chairman of Leema Creations and the Managing Director, Shamika Wijesekara were at the ceremony, representing Leeema Creations (Pvt) Ltd.

Hands-on vocational training plays one of the most critical roles in the skills development of youth in the country and their employability. Currently Wijesekara serves as the Chairman-Advisory Council on Wood and Wood-Based Industry for the Ministry of Industry and Commerce. In addition, he is a distinguished scholar who has written several important books on “Wood Technology.” At the ceremony Wijesekara launched his latest book, “Lee Weda Prayogika Patamalawa” (Practicals on Woodwork), and the first copy was presented to Dr. Arambepola.

The intention of the management of Leema Creations is to offer the best possible hands-on technical training to the students and make them employment ready, productive, and skilled wood technicians. The students will ultimately be individuals who are sought after by entrepreneurs locally and overseas. This training at Leema Creations will provide students with opportunities to prepare themselves for their future jobs in Sri Lanka or overseas.
