Old girls return to Ananda Balika Vidyalaya for Knowledge sharing

The ‘Knowledge Sharing Wing’ of Past Pupils of Ananda Balika Vidyalaya Colombo hosted a workshop recently to equip students with the skills and mindset needed for success in their years spent doing studies for the A’ Levels and beyond. The sessions also provided insights into career paths and opportunities, encouraging self-belief and instilling good values 

The ‘Knowledge Sharing Wing’ of Past Pupils of Ananda Balika Vidyalaya Colombo hosted a workshop recently, which comprised of presentations and coaching sessions conducted by them in response to a request from Ganga Kumuduni, the present Principal of the school.
The sessions were designed to equip students with the skills and mindset needed for success in their years spent doing studies for the A’ Levels 
and beyond.
The presenters were from various fields holding Senior and Middle Management Positions including Engineering, Law, HR Management, IT, Medicine, Banking, Finance, General Management and Education.
The sessions equipped students with practical tools for creating schedules, setting priorities, and critical thinking as well as teaching values such as integrity, leadership, and teamwork, crucial for personal and professional success. Students gained insights into effective communication, problem-solving, early career planning, and the significance of extracurricular activities, understanding that building character leads to greater success by participating at these sessions. 


Another important area which is mental health and well-being, emphasising self-care, mindfulness, and adaptive coping mechanisms were discussed for stress management.
The sessions also provided insights into career paths and opportunities, encouraging self-belief and instilling good values. 
Vindya Cumaratunga, initiator of the programme, mentioned that the team is currently in the process of lining up more Knowledge Sharing Sessions through the Knowledge Wing of Ananda Balika Past Pupils to be delivered month on month, which will add value to OL/AL Curriculum Studies and beyond.
The Knowledge Sharing Wing team comprised;
Sachithra Wjerathne, Nikini Mapitigama, Thejanee Wijesinghe, Madhavi Dissanayaka, Erandi Perera, Ramani Jayasekara, Nilushi Gohunuwatte, and Sachitha Madushani, Dr. Neelamani Rajapaksa with collaborative assistance coming from Deepani Priyangika, Dilani Perera and Lakshmi Senanayaka, Vilashini Rupasinghe, Aruni Gohunuwatte, Prof. Thamara Gunasekare, Shanthi Niroshini, Mekhala Gamage, Kushani Panditharathna, Eresha Randunu, Chamathka Ramasundara, Nayana Jayanetti, Thanuja Colombage, Shaharwan Hassim, Shiromi Wijerathna, Somiprabha Athukorala, Gayani Dikkumbura, Lieutenant Iresha Jayapala, and Sanoji Perera.
