Pandit Joydeep Ghosh to entertain Lankan music lovers

One of India’s leading musicians, renowned Sarod artiste, Pandit Joydeep Ghosh who is on a tour visiting universities in Sri Lanka will appear for a public performance at ‘Bollywood Retro Night’ on August 6 at 7 pm at Liberty Ballroom of Ramada Colombo.   
Presented by Siddhivinayak Cine Arts, Pandit Ghosh will present nearly 30 minute performance with Vadya Nipun Peshala Manoj and musical backing by a group of Indo-Sri Lankan collaboration. The evening is to recreate magical music renditions by legendary Lata Mangeshkar, Mohammad Rafi, Kishore Kumar, Udit Narayan, Alka Yagnik, Asha Bhosle, and Sonu Nigam. The Bollywood super hits are to be sung by Sri Lankan playback singers including Sangeeth Nipun Champa Kalhari Jayasekara, Ridma Weerawardena, Anu Madhubhasini and Sri Lankan Band ‘Seven Heavens’ lead by Dr. Ruwin Dias will provide the musical backing. CBL and Sahanya Foundation are the co-sponsors for Bollywood Retro Night’.   
Started to learn Sarod from the tender age of five under the able guidance of the great masters late Sangeetacharya Anil Roychoudhury, late Sangeetacharya Radhika Mohan Moitra and Padmabhusan Acharya Buddhadev Dasgupta, Pandit Joydeep Ghosh is to perform at the Swami Vivekananda Cultural Centre in Colombo on August 4 at an event jointly organised by the Swami Vivekananda Cultural Centre of the High Commission of India and presented by Koushalya Wickramasinghe, Chairperson of Siddhivinayak Cine Arts Pvt Ltd.   
During his visit to Sri Lanka, Pandit Gosh is to perform at the Rabindranath Tagore Memorial Auditorium at the University of Ruhuna, Matara. Organised by Arts Council and the Department of Fine Arts of respective universities, he also will perform at the Kelaniya University, Peradeiya University and Colombo University.
