Religious ceremonies in memory of blast victims

The offering of alms to priests at the Temple of the Tooth was part of one of the religious programmes conducted by Abans PLC

 

 

 

In the wake of the recent bombings, Abans PLC conducted religious activities that promoted peace and harmony within the Sri Lankan community. Taking place throughout the month of June, these activities signified Abans’ goal of endorsing national unity while respecting the distinctive religious and ethnic diversity that our country is known for.


Last month, the company organised a series of ceremonies that recognised the Sri Lanka’s four primary religions in Kandy. Ceremonies were held at the Temple of the Tooth where an alms giving was given to over 100 monks. The company donated an LG air conditioners to be installed at the dining hall of the Maligawa. This was followed by a Christian service at the “Daya Nivasa” Child Protection Centre in Kandy. There was a special Hindu observance at the Kandy Pillayar Kovil which was followed by Donation of School equipment to under privileged school children, An Islamic religious function was held at the Digana Masjidun Noor Jummah Masjid mosque.


At each ceremony the victims of the Easter bombings were commemorated and prayers were offered in their name. These activities were organised by the Abans retail division and 
Abans Senior Management.


 Further, Abans organised a dansala in connection with Poson Poya Day on June 16. The event was organized by the Abans Sports Club. These events commemorated Abans’ 50th anniversary. (Hafiz Marikar)
