SAANSO TRAINERS CONFERENCE INAUGURATED

The South Asian Association of Nation Scout Organisations (SAANSO) Trainers Conference hosted by Sri Lanka Scout Association  was inaugurated on July 15  at 10 .00 a.m at the Goldi Sands Hotel in Negombo Sri Lanka.
The Chief Guest for the occasion was Mohamed Ali Khalid, SAANSO Advisor and Additional Chief Commissioner of Bharat Scouts and Guides.


Chief Commissioner of Sri Lanka Scout Association Attorney at law Janaprith Fernando and Course Director of the Conference received the Chief Guest.


 M.F.S.Muheed Deputy Chief Commissioner and SAANSO NATIONAL COORDINATOR delivered the welcome Address followed by the address by Abdullah Rasheed Secretary General of SAANSO who detailed the History of SAANSO and it’s beginnings.


 Srinath Gooneratne President of Sri Lanka Scout Association addressed the delegates.


Chief Commissioner Fernando in his address expressed his gratitude to all those Participants and Resource Persons for having come to Sri Lanka  at very difficult times.


He further said even during the pandemic scouting was kept active  in Sri Lanka. He also referred to the importance of Training  to enable to produce good citizens.


The Chief Guest Mohamed Ali Khalid in his address  stated that there has to be exchange among the trainers and this will help to progress in the midst of  daily changes taking place  and an increase in leaders are required.


24  participants, 6 Resource Persons from 7 South Asian countries Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Maldives,  Nepal, Pakistan and Sri Lanka  are participating at the Conference on hybrid physical and virtual mode. Resource Persons are  from Bangladesh, Malaysia, Singapore and Philippines and APR support Centre.


The 3 Day Conference  will conclude on July 17 with the Closing Ceremony.


Dr. Asanka Eriyawa  Headquarters Commissioner and Conference Secretary delivered the Vote 
of Thanks.
