On August 16, 2021, H.E. Poj Harnpol, Ambassador-Designate of Thailand to Sri Lanka, donated financial assistance to the Muay-Thai Association of Sri Lanka (MTASL) at the Muay-Thai gym in Narahenpita, Colombo. Asoka Jayarathna, Chairman of MTASL, thanked the Ambassador of Thailand for the donation and appreciated Thailand on the recognition of Muay-Thai as an Olympic sport by the international Olympic Committee (OIC). The Chairman also gave a brief overview of the history of Muay-Thai development in Sri Lanka and handed over an action plan for “VISION 2028”, a project to raise awareness of Muay-Thai around Sri Lanka. The ambassador thanked MTASL for the commitment in elevating the status of Muay-Thai and expressed his willingness to work closely with MTASL to promote Muay-Thai to a wider audience in the future.
