By completing the steps in 2022 Our World, Our Equal Future: The environment and gender equality activity pack, Girl Guides and Girl Scouts around the world were able to understand how girls and young women are disproportionately affected by environmental issues and explore how they could speak up and take action for a better world.

World Thinking Day is one of the most anticipated annual events of the Girl Guiding/Girl Scouting community and is celebrated on February 22.
Commemorated across 150 countries, World Thinking Day draws on all the links of an iconic global sisterhood to bring together over 10 million Girl Guides and Girl Scouts in celebration of the strong bonds created by the movement.

Focusing on the global impact of Girl Guiding, this day is spent bringing attention to current world issues and creating awareness and sensitivity on global concerns.
Each year the event has a theme that sets the tone for the various activities planned for the occasion. The theme for World Thinking Day 2022 - 2024 is Our World, Our Equal Future.

This year’s World Thinking Day starts a three-year journey for Girl Guides and Girl Scouts to become environmentally conscious leaders. Each year we will build on this environmental theme and explore the links between the environment and other global concerns. The theme for 2022 is Our World, Our Equal Future; The Environment and Gender Equality. The theme for 2023 is Our World, Our Thriving Future; The Environment and Global Poverty and the theme for 2024 is Our World, Our Peaceful Future; The Environment, Peace and Security

World Thinking Day has been celebrated since 1926 when delegates from around the globe met at Camp Edith Macy, now called Edith Macy Conference Centre in New York and agreed that February 22 would be known as a special day for Girl Guides and Girl Scouts worldwide.

In her first letter about the World Thinking Day Fund Lady Baden-Powell, the World Chief Guide asked the Girl Guides to donate “A penny for your thoughts,” in order to support the Movement. The world thinking day fund is used to help girls and young women around the world where the need is greatest and to fund WAGGGS’s numerous activities.
