For the first time in Sri Lanka inventor Kelum Wadasinghe has developed a machine that can manufacture medicine pills.
He has used local mold materials and the new machine is specified to manufacture both western and local medicine pills. If anyone wishes to import that kind of manufacturing machine they need to spend about Rs 3 or 4 million, Wadasinghe said.
Commenting on the machine he said, “This machine can produce Western as well as local pills. When local medicines are used for a similar purpose the contents might be stuck. But the machine I have made helps eliminate stacking problems and relieves any difficulties during the procedure that’s going on inside.
“I hurriedly developped that machine for only rupees four hundred and fifty thousand. While testing the machine I had to make several conditions before developing it and took into consideration things like time, quantity, weight and
he said.
“The main reason for making this kind of machine is connected to my colleagues requesting me to develop this type of machine because such a machine cannot be imported due to the pandemic. I took the challenge and the machine is my brainchild, finally, I won,” he said. This machine is made in Sri Lanka. If by any chance there is a breakdown technicians would be able to fix it because parts are easily available. But this is not the case with the imported one,” he said.
