The Department of Meteorology has predicted substantial rainfall above 100mm for most parts of the island in coming days.
According to the Department, some areas in Central, Sabaragamuwa, Southern, Uva, and Western provinces may experience heavy rainfall, with more than 100mm expected.
“Rain is expected today in the Central, Sabaragamuwa, Uva, and Southern provinces, mainly in the evening or night, with some places possibly seeing rainfall above 50mm. The Northern and North-Western provinces may get a few light showers,” it forecast.
Furthermore, the Department said misty conditions are likely today (06) morning in parts of the Western, Sabaragamuwa, and Central provinces, as well as in Galle and Matara districts. Meanwhile, the National Building Research Organisation (NBRO) yesterday (05) issued early landslide warnings for eight Districts.
Accordingly, the warning notices were issued to the Kalutara, Kandy, Kegalle, Matara, Kurunegala and Ratnapura Districts.
