The proposed Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC) will be signed only after studying and subjecting it into Sri Lankan law, a government MP told Parliament yesterday.
Government MP and former Minister Mahinda Samarasinghe told the House that the government will follow a transparent approach with regard to the proposed MCC agreement. Accordingly, he said the most important objections that have been made against the agreement would be looked into before signing it.
“One of the most important objections that have been made against the agreement would be looked into before signing it. “One of the most important objections raised against the MCC agreement is that it is only subjected to international law. The government, therefore, is working towards making it subjected to local law,” he said.
