Acting Regional Manager of the Sri Lanka Transport Board (SLTB) in the Northern Province had been arrested by the Bribery Commission officials for accepting a bribe of Rs. 60,000. Director (Investigations) of the Bribery Commission, SSP Padmini Weerasuriya said the suspect was arrested at Pallimunai in Mannar yesterday, following a complaint lodged by an accountant based in Mannar.
She said the officials at the Jaffna SLTB office is conducting a disciplinary inquiry against the complainant (accountant).
The arrested Manager had solicited a bribe from the complainant assuring that he would take steps to get him released from the charges through the officials at the head office in Colombo.
The arrested suspect is to be produced in the Mannar Magistrate’s Court.
