The main opposition Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) yesterday questioned the educational qualifications of Deputy Speaker Dr. Rizvie Salih whom it said is not a specialist doctor as claimed by him.

“ It has been revealed that the Deputy Speaker Sally is not a qualified specialist doctor as was claimed earlier, SJB MP Nalin Bandara Jayamaha told a briefing.

“ We are planning to inform this matter to the Sri Lanka Medical Council and request them to probe on it,” Jayamaha said.

“ The lot who came into power by promising to stop robbing of the Public seem to have robbed educational qualifications,” he added.

MP Jayamaha said the opposition will nominate an MP for the speaker’s post on Tuesday when Parliament meets to elect a successor for Asoka Ranwala who resigned from his post last week. “We know we will not be able get our nominee elected but we hope create a situation for the people to compare the candidates.

If we contested for the post on November 21, people would have said the opposition nominee would have been better than Ranwala who falsely claimed a doctorate,” the MP said.
