Some insist Ranil must remain to revamp party - Sources

Some of the UNP seniors said the party to be revamped under its present Leader Party Leader Ranil Wickremesinghe for the provincial council elections while others have stated that it should reorganized under former Speaker and former Deputy Leader Karu Jayasuriya, the Daily Mirror reliably learns. 


Party seniors have come up with these ideas at a meeting of party seniors who had met at Mr. Wickremesinghe’s residence at 5th lane, last morning.   


Party Leader Wickremesinghe, General Secretary Akila Viraj Kariyawasam, Ravi Karunanayake, Ruwan Wijewardene, Daya Gamage, Palitha Range Bandara and Vajira Abeyawardene have participated in these discussions according to sources. 

 
It has been decided that the matter should be discussed at Friday’s working committee meeting. It was reported that the final decision pertaining to the national list slot would also be made at the working committee meeting.   


Mr. Kariyawasam when contacted by the Daily Mirror confirmed that there was a discussion on revamping the party at Mr. Wickremesinghe residence and the matter would be further discussed at the working committee meeting.
