A Sri Lankan who attempted to enter the country on a forged Sri Lankan passport was arrested by the Immigration and Emigration Officers at Katunayake International Airport last morning.

Investigation revealed that the 39-year-old suspect was a resident of Kilinochchi in Jaffna. He with others in his family had illegally migrated to India by sea on board a trawler from Mannar in 2004. Later he fled to England on a forged Indian passport and lived there without a Visa.

Meanwhile, others in his family had however managed to return from India and settle down in Kilinochchi. The suspect had obtained the forged Sri Lankan passport from a racketeer in England to return to Sri Lanka and to join with his family.

He was to be handed over to the CID for further investigations.
