Youths in our country have talents and skills for inventions, new creations and new products but they lack financial backing and support to make their inventions and products commercially viable, Science, Technology and Research State Minister, Dr. Seetha Arambepola said yesterday.
Minister Arambepola added that her priority would be to provide a start- up backing for youths with talents who are bold enough to venture into inventions and commercially
feasible new products.
Minister Arambepola made the remarks after she made a pilgrimage to Sri Dalada Maligawa and had an audience with the Chief Prelate of the Maltwatta Chapter of the Siyam Nikaya, Most Venerable, Tibbotuwawe Sri Sumangala Mahanayaka Thera. “The Government must draw its attention to brighten the future of the under- educated youth who become drop-outs after the GCE O/L examination.
They should be given vocational training of their choice and to be successful in their chosen field.
