The Secretary to the Treasury S.H. Attygalle has instructed the Secretaries of all the ministries and state ministries, heads of the departments and corporations and statutory boards to give priority for seven factors in preparing the budget estimates for the year 2021.
Empowerment of low-income earning families, development of rural economy, providing housing facilities, achieving progress in reforms of education and skill development, infrastructure facility development, encouraging small and medium scale local manufacturers and producers with a view to increase the volume of their production ,development of rural road network, are the seven priorities stipulated by the Treasury.
In addition the heads of the institution were required to ensure the establishment and strengthening of workforce of all the ministries, regional and rural project offices in order to cater to the need of empowering the rural lifestyle, economy of agriculture, as those areas had been identified inseparable from the overall development of the country.
