Two Sri Lankans were arrested at the Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA) yesterday while attempting to smuggle in four gold slabs worth Rs.10.5 million that they had brought down from Bangkok, Thailand, Customs spokesman Leslie Gamini said.

Customs investigations revealed that one of the suspects had two gold bars weighing 500 grammes each strapped to his legs using gum tape, while the other had two concealed gold bars weighing 500 grammes and 100 grammes in his hand luggage, Mr. Gamini said.
