Beauty has varied throughout time, various cultures and the vast different perceptions of the universe have applied varied connotations and perceptions to Beauty. Beauty has been described and depicted through pictures and concepts penetrating our minds. Beauty has been defined in so many ways. Most commonly used is “Beauty is in the eye of the beholder!” Even though it is hard to accept, Beauty is often radiated from Simplicity. There is Beauty in a Smile, in Happiness; Beauty is a radiance that comes from within.
We all live in one world, men, women and children of all shapes and sizes, all colours and textures. We are all
unique, with experiences and memories that bind us together in our own versions of beauty. We are different shapes, sizes, colours, and heritage. We are fathers, mothers, sons, daughters, grandfathers and grandmothers. We are activists, innovators, achievers and inspirations. The lives we live, the changes we create, could be both breathtaking and beautiful or it could be simple and masterful; yet, beautiful in its own way. It is our conception of beauty because whatever it is, what we create is beautiful to our minds; and that is what matters, that is our conception of beauty. What may not be beautiful to others; could still be beautiful to you it may not be someone else’s perception of beauty, but seriously, should someone else’s ideas influence your thoughts?
Our bodies are simply a shell that allows us to radiate these experiences and accomplishments through wanting to be beautiful. Being beautiful inside is being beautiful outside. Beauty most often is happiness, when a woman is happy, her beauty grows, it shines, it radiates from within. Beauty displays our happiest and most incredible experiences for the world to see. No culture, company or concept could ever define beauty. It is composed of the moments that draw upon our strength, and consume us with the remarkable and intoxicating experience of being alive.
"It is time for us to redefine the parameters of beauty and start being proud of who we really are. Not just looking good but feeling good is something that should come naturally, therein lies the goodness and the beauty"
According to National Geographic and I quote, “Beauty is becoming less a matter of aesthetics and more about self-awareness, personal swagger and individuality. In the West, the legacy media are now sharing influence with digital media, social media and a new generation of writers and editors who came of age in a far more multicultural world – a world that has a more fluid view of gender. The millennial generation, those born between 1981 and 1996, is not inclined to assimilate into the dominant culture but to stand proudly apart from it. The new definition of beauty is being written by a selfie generation: people who are the cover stars of their own narrative.”
I think it is time for us to redefine the parameters of beauty and start being proud of who we really are. Not just looking good but feeling good is something that should come naturally, therein lies the goodness and the beauty. Looking beautiful should not consist of applying layers of makeup and plastering our faces to look, what some fools think, is beautiful. Why can’t beauty be in the smiling faces of friends; in the joy that togetherness brings? Why can’t we find beauty in music, in the trees and flowers that surround us, the glorious beauty of a sunset, the shimmering radiance of the stars at night? THAT IS AND SHOULD BE LOOKED UPON AS REAL BEAUTY, TRUE BEAUTY IN ITS PUREST FORM!!!
