In recognition of sustainable manufacturing, the Green Building Council of Sri Lanka (GBCSL) has certified Alumex PLC with the Eco-Label under the GREEN Labelling System, for its entire aluminium extrusion portfolio.

The GBCSL has identified Alumex PLC, a Hayleys Group Company, as a good example of sustainable manufacturing – a vital contribution to achieving a common goal of building a healthy and sustainable future together.

“As a company that has embraced sustainable business practices, we are glad to have been recognized with the ‘Eco-Label Certification’ from the ‘Green Building Council of Sri Lanka,” Alumex PLC Managing Director Pramuk Dediwela said.

“The certification is a testament to our constant focus on sustainable manufacturing processes and to the value we offer our discerning customers.”

Forests cover 31 percent of the earth’s surface area, whilst being home to 80 percent of the planet’s land-based biodiversity. Forest cover also plays a critical role in mitigating climate change.

Yet according to the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations “State of the World’s Forests 2020” Report, deforestation and forest degradation continue to take place at alarming rates, contributing significantly to the ongoing loss of biodiversity.

Aluminium, referred to as a ‘green metal’, is recognized as an effective and efficient alternative to wood products used in construction, and is at the core of Alumex PLC’s sustainable manufacturing solutions.

Throughout the years, Alumex has attempted to collaborate with multiple stakeholders to inculcate sustainable manufacturing practices, whilst collaborating with its stakeholders towards greater circularity, and its environmental commitments.
