A donation of anaesthetic and respiratory medicines from the French government was received by Sri Lanka on Thursday (26) and Health Minister Keheliya Rambukwella said that these medicines would be sufficient for a period of three months to address the existing shortage.

The French government donated a stock of medicine worth 300 000 euros (around Rs.115 million) following the request of the Sri Lankan government.

Ambassador Eric Lavertu met Rambukwella and discussed the current medical crisis in Sri Lanka.
The ambassador made a symbolic donation of the 300,000-euro worth of medicines to Rambukwella. “This donation will help to maintain a continuous nine-day operation in all emergency operating theatres in Sri Lanka,” said Rambukwella.
