Donation of Optiflow Nasal Oxygen Therapy System to Kegalle District General Hospital
HNB Assurance PLC (HNBA) and its fully owned subsidiary HNB General Insurance Limited (HNBGI) together with their staff members made further donations of urgently needed ventilators and medical equipment and supplies to hospitals, MOH and PHI Offices.
As part of the second phase of donations an Optiflow Nasal Oxygen Therapy System was handed over to the Kegalle District General Hospital.
This is a vital piece of equipment in the treatment of COVID-19 patients as it eases breathing. Further, to assist front line medical workers in their efforts to combat the spread of the virus, donations of Fingertip Pulse Oximeters as well as other medical equipment and supplies were donated to the Office of the Medial Officer of Health, Central Colombo, and to the Colpetty PHI’s office.
Prasantha Fernando, Chief Executive Officer of HNB Assurance PLC and HNB General Insurance Limited sharing his thoughts said, “We are at a critical juncture in this 3rd wave of COVID-19 pandemic which is plaguing our land with the threat of the much-feared Delta Variant being detected.
As a responsible corporate citizen both companies have channeled funds for this project. We also donated a Non-Invasive Ventilator to the Chilaw District General Hospital as well as a Video Laryngoscope Portable Monitor and Laryngoscope Blade to the Kethumathi Hospital in Panadura. I am thankful to all staff of both companies who donated a day’s salary towards this project”.
Speaking further Fernando added, “Being a company that provides financial protection,one area that our CSR initiatives have always been focused on is providing a better quality of life through various interventions.
In this regard, we have been able to set in place more than 60 projects that provide access to clean drinking water to schools especially in areas that have a high prevalence of kidney decease as well as those that do not have access to drinking water, We will continue to support our communities and do our part to uplift the lives of those around us who need it most”.
