Prime Group’s Chairman Premalal Brahmanage elected CDASL President

Prime Group’s Chairman Premalal Brahmanage has been appointed as the new President of the Condominium Developers Association – Sri Lanka (CDASL) for the year of 2021/2022.


He succeeds Suresh Rajendra of John Keells Holdings PLC who completed his term as Chairman at the culmination of this year’s Annual General Meeting.


Brahmanage currently serves as the Chairman of the Prime Group, a company he co-founded and steered to become the country’s most celebrated real estate company with an indelible reputation built over 25 years of service excellence. He was also the Deputy Chairman of HNB Finance PLC.


“I am both privileged and humbled to have been entrusted this role as the President of the Condominium Developer’s Association, as an organization with a proud past and an exciting and prosperous future. 


“Over the next year, we will continue to build on our strengths and explore new directions. While the times ahead may seem challenging, I am confident that as we stand united in our values, skills and commitment, we will continue to overcome and forge ahead from strength to strength to serve the best interests of our nation. 


“To commence my tenure, I will relook at the Condominium Act to improve operations within the industryand facilitate joint promotions outside Sri Lanka to secure mileage within the international market.  In a business environment conflicted by a global pandemic, this will help us fortify our contribution to the government, local businesses as well as the broader community.


“As I assume this new position, I wish to acknowledge our outgoing President Suresh Rajendra. His leadership towards the association was steady, assured and pragmatic and his clear vision helped the Association navigate the deeply challenging world environment driven by the COVID-19’ pandemic. 


“His knowledge and experience played a pivotal role in this regard, andI offer my deep gratitude for his wonderful service and hard work rendered towards CDASL together with the outgoing Executive committee.


“Finally, I would like to extend my sincere thanks to my company Prime Group and all its stakeholders for working with an inspiring dedication and passion everyday. As we embrace the challenges and opportunities of the ‘New Normal’, I look forward to serving the Condominium Developers Association and its Members to the best of my ability,” remarked Prime Group Chairman Premalal Brahmanage.


A veteran of the real estate industry, Brahmanage is a Fellow Member of the Institute of Chartered Management Accountants (UK), Chartered Business Administrator (Canada) and Sri Lanka Institute of Marketing. He also holds an MBA from the Open University of Malaysia and a Postgraduate Diploma in Marketing from the University of Sri Jayawardenepura. 


His long-standing career has seen him make significant contributions to the advancement of entrepreneurship in Sri Lanka, and was named as the “Most outstanding entrepreneur in Sri Lanka” for the year 2018 by the International Association of Lions Club.


An affiliate of the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce, the Condominium Developers Association aims to preserve the interests of all stakeholders connected to the industry, fosterindustry specific initiatives, invite the intervention of governmental bodies in the facilitation and implementation of investments in the industry, lobby for the change of counterproductive legislation, interact with line ministries and related bodies in facilitating responsible and proactive procedures, establish best practices, and establish the role of the Condominium sector as a significant player in the economy.
