John Keells Properties recently rebranded Victoria Golf Resort and Country Resort to Victoria Golf Resort Sri Lanka (VGR), Digana.

Awarded as ‘one of the 100 most beautiful golf courses in the world’ and with VGR’s continued affiliation with Troon International, the resort is expected to attract and retain a large portion of the market, including professional golfers as well as holiday enthusiasts from across the globe.

With the forecasted changes in the travel and tourism market (globally) as well as the evolving business landscape of South Asia, the 517-acre golf resort is expected to pique the interest of professional golfers and golf-enthusiasts as one of Sri Lanka’s most attractive golf resort destinations. The Golf Tourism Global Market Report 2022 by Business Research Company, India, indicates that North America was the largest region in the golf tourism market in 2021, with Asia Pacific expected to be the fastest-growing region for the foreseeable future.

The new sleek and modern VGR logo is a depiction of the different green golfing terrains and the intersection of mountains that surround the 18-hole championship golf course, with the ‘V’ formation representing the ‘Victoria’ name. The groundbreaking rebrand and relaunch are part of a larger global campaign to promote Sri Lanka as an international golfing destination.
John Keells Properties Chief Operating Officer and John Keells Holdings Senior Vice President Inoke Perera stated, “Whilst the resort will act as a destination to host/experience international golf, the brand also offers a wide range of food and beverage options and an exciting range of leisure activities and experiences to enthral the visitors. The partnership with Troon will continue to assist Victoria Golf Resort Sri Lanka in reaching global golf tourism markets.”

VGR is also home to two real estate gems: Sunrise Ridge, an investment property offering 16 luxury holiday homes for sale, set out as 2,000 sq. ft., two-bedroom villas and The Peninsula, an exclusive residential development designed to offer an opulent lifestyle and holiday experience.

Commenting on the relaunch Troon International Executive Vice President Mark Chapleski stated, “The golf experience at Victoria is a truly unique one as the location provides a tranquil setting for golfers to enjoy the jungle-esque course, with the added benefit of experiencing the beauty of the natural flora and fauna. The golf experience at VGR is a holistic experience for mind, body and soul and transcends the mundane.”

As a top pick for destination weddings and events, the resort offers guests a choice of meticulously crafted accommodation set out as Cottages, Chalets and a Villa. Moreover, Victoria Golf Resort Sri Lanka is also home to the Victoria Golf Academy, a facility dedicated to grooming golfers, providing lessons to hone their skills.
