CMA conducts ‘Derivatives and Hedge Accounting’ workshop

A half day workshop on Derivatives and Hedge Accounting was organized by the Institute of Certified Management Accountants of Sri Lanka (CMA) recently at the Distance Learning Centre at SLIDA.

 


The workshop was inaugurated by CMA President Prof. Lakshman R. Watawala and was conducted by Nirmal Costa- Senior Director from Ernst & Young Sri Lanka Financial Accounting Advisory Services (FAAS) who proves extensive experience and in-depth knowledge in applying Sri Lanka Accounting Standards (SFLRS) equivalent to International Financial Reporting Standards in providing IFRS related consultancy services for financial services organizations.
Participants from the BPO and services organizations took part actively in the interactive workshop. The workshop gave an opportunity to peer to peer learning and sharing of best practices on derivatives and hedge accounting.

 


Nirmal Costa shared theoretical and actual experience in applying and interpreting the key concepts on Identifying derivatives and applying the key concepts with a series of case studies and real-world examples of derivatives. The audience felt that the case study was an important and easy method to learn.
