CMA to conduct workshop on “GRI New Standards”

The Institute of Certified Management Accountants of Sri Lanka (CMA) has organized a workshop on “GRI New Standards” in association with South Asian Federation of Accountants (SAFA) and Global Reporting Initiative Focal Point India. The workshop will be held on Friday (September 6) form 9.00a.m. – 5.00p.m. at Golden Pond, Hotel Taj Samudra.
The latest version of the Global Reporting Initiative’s Sustainability Reporting Guidelines G4 was launched on 22nd May 2013 at the GRI Global Conference in Amsterdam. Over 1600 sustainability leaders and practitioners from 82 countries convened in Amsterdam, the Netherlands for three days to discuss the key challenges and opportunities on the path to a more sustainable future.
GRI Focal Point India in partnership with Institute of Certified Management Accountants of Sri Lanka(CMA) & South Asia Federation of Accountants (SAFA) would organize the launch of the G4 Guidelines in Sri Lanka to enhance more reporting and improve the quality of reports in South Asia. In addition to enhancing the relevance and quality of standalone sustainability reports, G4 will be a powerful framework for South Asia in generating material sustainability information for inclusion and alignment with Annual Reports, CSR Reports, Business Responsibility Report (BRR) and Integrated Reports.
GRI workshop will provide an introduction to GRI and its products and services. Introductory GRI workshops show how GRI’s Sustainability Reporting Framework helps organizations to measure and communicate their performance, and benefit from this transparency. Workshop is ideal for organizations currently looking at improvements in annual reports and those with little or no sustainability reporting experience. Participants learn why organizations of all types and sizes prepare sustainability reports. They also discover GRI, and how the Reporting Framework can help them to manage their economic, environmental and governance impacts responsibly.
The workshop covers issues like the GRI reporting process, stakeholder engagement to identify topics, and defining report content.
