Dialog Axiata invests further US $ 115mn to expand ICT infrastructure

Dialog Axiata PLC, a unit of Malaysia’s Axiata Group, has recently inked a deal with Sri Lanka’s Board of Investments (BoI) to invest a further US $ 115 million, approximately Rs.15 billion, to expand Dialog’s nationwide telecommunication networks and digital satellite television services.
With this investment, Dialog Axiata’s cumulative investments in Sri Lanka stand in excess of US $ 1.7 billion (Rs.223 billion).
A statement issued by Dialog Axiata said Dialog Television (Private) Limited will invest US $ 115 million to facilitate the expansion of the multi-faceted ICT infrastructure of the Dialog group, including, but not limited to 4G and 3G high-speed broadband, disaster recovery, technology modernisation and upgrades, etc.
Dialog has been at the forefront of innovation in Sri Lanka’s ICT sector and operates the country’s largest and fastest-growing telecommunication network with over 8.7 million mobile subscribers and a rapidly growing subscriber base in high-speed fixed broadband and digital television sectors.
Axiata Group is Asia’s second largest telecommunication group with over 230 million subscribers spanning seven markets in Asia.
