Iodex, the Ayurvedic balm brand from SmithKline Beecham (GlaxoSmithKline), recently held a relief camp to provide support to thousands of pilgrims visiting Sri Pada, a sacred place for Sri Lankans at a height of 2,243 metres.

Aptly equipped with essential facilities, Iodex relief centre extended medical assistance and relief from pain to over 2000 pilgrims, reiterating the brand’s spirit of not letting pain hold people back in life.

The Iodex relief centre provided resting area, free massages for those suffering from pain and additionally distributed leaflets giving historical and cultural information about Sri Pada, including important telephone numbers. The centre was also equipped with beds and with necessary equipment to support the trained personnel stationed there who ensured that pilgrims were given fast relief from pain that could have otherwise held them back from completing their pilgrimage.

Commenting on this initiative, GlaxoSmithKline Director Brands Ravi De Coonghe said, “Over the years Iodex has become a trusted and important part of a family’s home medicine kit. We are a young brand in the market but have established a strong connect with our consumers. As a brand that promises relief from pain, we strongly believe that pain should not come in the way of anyone’s life. Sri Pada is not an easy journey and that is why we took it upon ourselves to organise this relief centre and provide pilgrims with relief form pain during this religious season. We are glad that pilgrims saw and derived value from this setup as we were able to help over 2000 pilgrims.”

Iodex has over the years gained a substantial footing in the industry as a pain reliever that provides fast relief from back pain, joint pain and various other body pains. In its communication, the brand has always made it a priority to convey the message that pain should never be a reason to hold someone back in life. Over the past few years, Iodex as a socially responsible brand has engaged in many initiatives that embody the same objective and Sri Pada relief centre is a clear manifestation of the brand’s continued commitment to provide relief to all Sri Lankans.
