The Berlin Wall was built in 1961 by the German Democratic Republic or East Germany and the sole purpose of the barrier was to cut off West Berlin from East Germany and East Berlin. The barrier included guarded towers placed along large concrete walls. The fall of the Berlin Wall marked a radical change in the political landscape of Europe.

With communalism losing its passion and the decline of many pro-soviet governments marked the beginning of a new era in Europe. The fall of the Berlin Wall paved the way for German reunification, which was formally concluded with East Germany and West Germany unified as one nation.DIMO has represented the best engineered brands from Germany for more than seven decades. Hence, DIMO also took part in the anniversary event and the rally, as the only authorized distributor for Mercedes-Benz in Sri Lanka.

DIMO Chairman Ranjith Pandithage and his wife, DIMO CEO Gahanath Pandithage, Mercedes Service GM Tharanga Gunawardena and Mercedes-Benz Head of Sales Rajeev Pandithage were present at this event, whilst members of the Mercedes-Benz Club of Sri Lanka Ex-co were also present with their families.
