Ronald Perera appointed BoC Chairman President’s Counsel Ronald Perera has been appointed Bank of Ceylon Chairman. He is due to assume office this morning. Perera is an experienced lawyer with a wide practice in the original courts as well as in the Court of Appeal and Supreme Court. A long standing member of the UNP Working Committee, Perera has appeared in numerous cases on behalf of the UNP and its leadership as well as for party members & Jathika Sevaka Sangamaya members who were subject to political victimisation.


More recently, on the eve of the Presidential Election, Perera appeared on behalf of Presidential candidate Maitripala Sirisena and successfully prevented Rupavahini, ITN and other TV Channels from telecast TV programmes in violation of Media Guidelines issued by the Commissioner of Elections.Perera is a LLB graduate from the University of Colombo and also holds a LLM in International Trade Law from the Northumbria University. Perera was a Director of the Bank of Ceylon previously.


Perera is the son of the late Paul Perera Presidents Counsel, former UNP Minister of Justice, Lands, Science & Technology and of Kulaseeli Perera, former UNP Chairman of the Western Provincial Council.
