Sri Lanka generates petrol

Central Environment Authority- managed pilot plant in Yatiyantota, Kegalle which was commissioned to convert plastic and polythene waste to petrol, today ran six vehicles with the petrol generated by the project.

Minister of Environment and Natural Resources Patali Champika Ranawaka who was the chief guest of the event said his ministry along with inventor Ananda Vithanage had been working on the project since 2007 and added that they will continue the research to ensure further purification of the product.
