A one-man crusade against a provincial high-up!

The country’s Number One the other day paid a visit to Digamadulla area.

The purpose of his visit was to look into the problems of farmers and also the obstacles in the way of development in the area.

During this visit Number One chaired a public meeting  which was attended by the politicians  and the white-collar high-ups in the area.

However, the political bigwig of the government party  representing the area  was conspicuous by his absence at this meeting.

By the way, according to some knowledgeable sources, this political bigwig kept away from the meeting, not because he had any disaffection for the Number One, but as a mark of protest against the woman provincial chief who, by the way, was seated next to the Number One at the meeting!The provincial chief, they say, has incurred the displeasure of the Diyawanna politicos from the area due to their being given a cold shoulder by her. The Pohottuwa chief of the area is said to have taken a firm decision to boycott all public functions in the district attended by the woman provincial chief!
