Stories doing rounds in political circles say that the recent governor appointments had left more than a dozen hopefuls broken-hearted.

Among the disappointed aspirants were four prominent Blues who lost their seats at the last general polls – Hemal of Weligama, Lalith of Mawanella, Atha of Kegalle and Pushpa from Moneragala.  Their sense of dismay must have been deeper for they had been asked to be in readiness to attend the swearing-in ceremony by an authoritative source well in advance of the coming event.

Some hopefuls had got special suits tailored at high costs to don at the swearing-in ceremony.

The chagrin of some hopefuls had given way to anger.  One of them had even turned Green just to spite Number One. And he had been rewarded with a Green party organizer post soon after the somersault.
