A vehicle repair and service centre run by a State-owned undertaking at a city corner had been forced to close at the height of the recent 52-day political impasse.
This centre which had also been used an apprentice training facility for a long time had recorded an average net income of Rs. 2.5 million a year.
The centre was closed due to the pressure brought on authorities concerned by an organized group of pro-Pohottuwa drivers in the State Sector, who were keen on collecting a commission from private sector centres for providing them with repair jobs in respect of Government vehicles, they say.
