This year’s EDEX Mid-Year Expo promises a wide array of opportunities for students, with several key initiatives coming together under the new 365 Degrees banner. These initiatives Nenapahana, Sithuwam, Think Green, and Entrepreneurship will offer a holistic platform for education, creativity, entrepreneurship, environment protection, and community service.

Heshan Devapriya, Director of Sithuwam and Coordinator of 365 Degrees Programme, shared his excitement about this new direction, stating, “Our commitment to youth empowerment continues with the unification of our CSR initiatives. By bringing these ventures together, we aim to expand our reach and deepen our impact on community service.”

Nenapahana, focuses on community outreach by facilitating resource donations from well-established schools to those in rural areas. The project has already completed 400-500 projects across 20 districts, providing essential infrastructure, clean drinking water, IT facilities, books & stationery, and uniforms.

Sithuwam celebrates the artistic talents of the youth, offering students a platform to showcase their work in an art competition judged by the Ministry of Education. This initiative not only recognizes young artists but also provides them with opportunities to connect with international attendees who have previously awarded scholarships based on their talent.

The EDEX Entrepreneurship programme gives students a chance to learn from established entrepreneurs and start-up companies. Collaborating with local universities like the University of Moratuwa, this initiative helps students commercialize their academic projects.

Think Green promotes environmental awareness through sustainability drives, quizzes, and educational activities that underscore the importance of preserving nature.

A significant development under the 365 Degrees initiative is the plan to extend these opportunities to rural areas within the next three months, ensuring that students outside of urban centers can also benefit from these programmes.

The EDEX Mid-Year Expo will be held at the BMICH on the 6th, 7th & 8th of September, from 9:30 am to 6:00 pm daily. Students can pre-register for the expo as well as the seminar series via the EDEX Facebook page. The Expo will be inaugurated by His Excellency Eric Walsh, the High Commissioner of Canada for Sri Lanka and the Maldives.
