Over 400 participants from 22 institutions participated in Sri Lanka’s largest rowing championship which concluded a few weeks back. The event conducted recently by the Amateur Rowing Association of Sri Lanka (ARASL) and held at the Diyawanna Rowing Centre, Ruwanpura, was co-sponsored by Nippon Paint Lanka.
Hailing the event as the largest ever rowing national championship held in Sri Lanka, ARASL President, Dimuth Gunawadena said, “We had the Army, Navy and Air Force; the University of Colombo, the University of Moratuwa and the Kotelawala Defence University; the Colombo Rowing Club and the Diyawanna Rowing Academy. The balance were all schools.” The 38th national championship was held over four days.
“We are very glad to have been able to co-sponsor this year’s rowing championship,” said Nemantha Abeysinghe, General Manager of Nippon Paint Lanka. “Our intention is to add more colour to the various sporting events in Sri Lanka with our sponsorships.
