SolTrim International (Pvt.) Ltd, a leading Sri Lankan apparel brand identification and packaging products provider, received a global accolade after continuous commitment to the environment by being awarded CarbonNeutral certification for its organisational operations.

Already equipped with the recognised environmental sustainability certifications CarbonConscious and WasteConscious that were also renewed for a third-consecutive year, SolTrim was presented with the new certification at the first ever Climate Cocktail Club event held in Asia by Natural Capital Partners (UK) Climate Change and Sustainability Senior Manager Tom Popple.

With the support of the Carbon Consulting Company (CCC) and experts in business sustainability solutions, SolTrim focused its efforts on implementing emission reduction measures over the past three years, and as a result saw significant savings in their factory’s energy cost.

“We are always on the lookout for innovative approaches in enhancing our operations and minimising the negative impact caused socially and environmentally. After three years of continuous work on managing and reducing our carbon footprint with the invaluable help of the Carbon Consulting Company, going carbon neutral was the next logical step to take in our sustainability journey,” said SolTrim International CEO Suren Abeyasekera.

“Becoming the first in Asia in our industry to obtain this certification was truly the icing on the cake, and we enter this year with high prospects and new goals,” he added.

In addition to managing its Greenhouse Gases, SolTrim has been actively working towards reducing its Water Footprint and was also awarded WaterConscious Certification in recognition of the company’s dedication to efficient water management in its operations.

CCC CEO Sanith de S. Wijeyeratne said: “We commend Suren and his team on their continuous efforts to safeguarding the environment and community. It is hugely encouraging to see a client understand the importance of mitigating their environmental footprint and empowering youth for a more sustainable future. The CCC team and I applaud them and look forward to our continued partnership on this admirable endeavour.”

SolTrim are also staunch social advocates, and has contributed in many ways to schools in the area that aid underprivileged and differently-abled children by providing them with educational resources in order that they may have a better future. The company further holds regular employee blood donation camps and supports other initiatives such as medical reimbursements, staff death donations, staff school books, and has recently donated to a cancer hospital to obtain necessary medication to treat patients.
