Vedic astrology is considered the mother of Ayurveda, the Hindu System of Medicine.
Health and Tridosha
According to Medical Astrology or Ayurveda, the existence of Three Doshas (Humours) Vata (Wind), Pitta (Bile) and Kapha (Phlegm) in a state of harmony assures the health of an individual. The imbalance of these Doshas resulting from increasing or diminishing one or more of these Doshas would cause some disease.
However, one of these Doshas or Humours dominates every person which has led ancient sages in India to categorize individuals under three Ayurvedic bodytypes, depending on the kind of Dosha that dominates each of them,as a Vata, Pitta or a Kapha subject.
Ayurvedic body types
Categorizing individuals under these three Ayurvedic body types assumes significance since the body type of an individual has a direct relationship with the latent traits and the behavioural pattern of that individual. It should be remembered in this context that the planets influence the Three Doshas of an individual and the planet or the planets influencing a Dosha also influences the traits of that individual.
Understanding the Ayurvedic body types of your co-workers, your superiors or subordinates would help you deal better with them in your workaday affairs for you would know the behavioural pattern you could expect
from them.
Benefit from knowing one’s Ayurvedic body type
Understanding your own Ayurvedic body type would help you do an introspection so that you would be able to rectify the shortcomings in your own behaviour and thereby improve your relations with others while maximizing your productivity.
Vata subjects
Vata subjects would evince the characteristics of Mercury and Saturn and the signs they rule are: Mercury Gemini and Virgo and Saturn Capricorn and Aquarius.
Traits of Vata subjects
Vata subjects are imaginative, discerning and quick-witted. They work and move speedily and are quick thinkers and
quick workers.
Vata subjects want a good regular diet and regular physical exercise. They prefer jobs where the duties and responsibilities are clearly spelt out, because they dislike ambiguity
and uncertainty.
Behavioural Pattern
They dislike cold and may avoid working in an air-conditioned room which is very cold. They have a good short-term memory, but may find it difficult to remember things of a distant past.
Vata subjects enjoy the company of the Kapha subjects. Two Vata subjects would enjoy working together. Vata subjects are too sensitive to the fiery nature of the Pitta subjects and these two body types would not make good bedfellows.
Vata subjects prefer to live in sunny, humid climates and close to the sea or some water body. They do not like to live amid hustle-bustle. If they live in a noisy crowded city, they would want a tranquil environment soothing the tense muscles and nerves.
It is advisable for Vata subjects not to work late into the night, because they may not be able to fall into a fitful sleep.
Unfavourable traits
Vata subjects are not good at financial management. They may not successfully observe a method in earning, spending or saving money.
Vata subjects are usually brisk and light-footed. They are usually small in build and could be a bit skinny and bony. Their skin is dry and they often suffer from various skin diseases. They may suffer from pain at the body joints as they grow old.
Hunger strikes them at irregular intervals during the day. Therefore, it is advisable for them to go on a regular diet pattern to keep themselves healthy.
Favourable traits
Latent traits that stand the Vata subjects in good stead are that they are energetic, imaginative, innovative, quick to act, observant and creative.
Traits that place them at a disadvantage are that they are nervous, easily alarmed, full of anxiety and get easily tired and exhausted. These inborn drawbacks can throw them off balance and make them irresponsible and inconsistent.
Physically, they often suffer from insomnia, constipation, heart palpitation and hypertension.
