3rd SAARC Snooker Championship: Sri Lanka’s Thaha records two wins

Sri Lanka’s reigning triple champion Irshath Thaha recorded two consecutive wins on the first day of the 3rd SAARC Snooker Championship at the Moors Sports Club in Braybrooke Place, Colombo.

Thaha’s first win was in the morning session where he outplayed Ayush Gautam of Nepal by four frames to nil and his second was in the evening session where he got the better of Asif Imran, also of Bangladesh by four frames to one. Thaha turned out to be the only Sri Lanka winner of the four cueists in the fray.

The three other Sri Lankans, Mohamed Mushraf, Murugesu Prathap and Susantha Boteju, were beaten by Paras Gupta of India, Muhammad Asif of Pakistan, the three-time world snooker and the reigning world snooker champion, and Muhammad Naseem also of Pakistan. 

The championship will be continued today.
