The Thomians showed that they are made of a different class when they won the All-Island Under-16 Elite Ten-a-Side Rugby Tournament 2024, beating Kingswood College in the Cup final played in front of an appreciative crowd at the Trinity College Rugby Stadium in Pallekele last evening.
The one-sided final saw the Thomians leading 14-0. They went on to score two more tries to end the final in their favour, 26-0.
Mayanka Dias of S. Thomas’ College was named Player of the Final.
The outfit from Mount Lavinia was coached by Omalka Gunaratne.
Peterites had to be satisfied with the Shield win, overcoming Panadura Sumangala 32-0, while the Joes took home the Bowl, defeating hometown rivals Ananda 14-0.
In the Plate encounter, Isipathana beat Dharmaraja 5-0 in a closely fought match.
