Bangladesh and Seychelles clinched the top spot of the Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa Trophy 4-Nation Invitation Football Tournament with four points each after the completion of Saturday’s stage two matches played at the Racecourse Grounds in Reid Avenue.
Bangladesh defeated Maldives 2-1 and Seychelles edged out Sri Lanka 1-0 in the two games played on Saturday.
Therefore, Sri Lanka need to beat Bangladesh in their next game Tuesday (16) and also must hope that the Maldives will beat Seychelles if they are to have any chances of making it to the final.
Warren Ricky scored the match winning goal for Seychelles in the 68th minute after the scores were 0-0 at half time.
After the scores were level 1-1 at half time, Bangladesh managed to score another goal in the second half and beat the Maldives.
