Bangladesh retained the 2024 South Asian Football Federation (SAFF) Women’s Championship for the second successive year when they defeated Nepal 2-1 in the final encounter played at the Dasharath Stadium in Kathmandu, Nepal.  

Seven countries, including Sri Lanka participated in this tournament.

Earlier, in the semi-finals, Bangladesh trounced Bhutan 7-1 while Nepal edged out 

India 4-2 in a penalty shootout.

Sri Lanka had a fine start to their campaign as they defeated the Maldives 1-0 in their Group ‘B’ opening fixture. However they were eliminated from the tournament after losing to Bhutan (1-4) and Nepal (0-6) respectively.  

Sri Lanka conceded 10 goals to their opponents and netted only two goals throughout this tournament with Dilasha Imasha scoring a goal against the Maldives while Thushani Madushika scored a goal against Bhutan.
