Dinesh Chandimal slammed a career best unbeaten knock of 354, his first ever triple ton which enabled Army SC resuming from their overnight score of 344 for 5 post a mammoth total of 642 for 8 declared against Saracens SC on day two in the match played at the FTZ ground in Katunayake on Wednesday.
Chandimal’s marathon knock which came off 391 balls comprised 33 boundaries and nine towering sixes and in the process he was involved in five fruitful partnerships.
The first was a 91 run stand for the third wicket with Pathum Dilshan followed by a 111 run stand for the fourth wicket with Lakshan Edirisinghe. Later he put on 60 runs for the sixth wicket with Himasha Liyanage, an eighth wicket partnership of 133 runs with Janith Silva and an unbroken 127 runs for the ninth wicket with Heshan Hettiarachchi.
Chandimal with this top knock reached the 1000 run milestone (1027) which includes this triple ton, two tons and four half tons. Saracens SC in their turn ended the day on 72 for 2. The match will be continued today.
