The Colombo Kings’ Canadian opener Ravinderpal Singh tested positive for Covid-19 on Thursday, the first such case at the Lanka Premier League (LPL).
It is understood that a test Singh took at the airport upon his arrival to Sri Lanka had returned a positive result, and will now be isolated and likely sent to a quarantine centre in Colombo.
"He has been isolated from other team members," a team source said. "He might now leave for Colombo, where further frequent PCR tests will be conducted in coming days,” the source said.
"He has no other serious symptoms and we are hopeful that by the time the LPL begins he will be available to play," the source said about the Indian born Singh.
The Kings’ had a Covid-19 related withdrawal when Kabir Ali tested positive before he reached Sri Lanka, leading to commentator Herschelle Gibbs taking over as the franchise’s head coach.
