Sri Lanka's vice captain Dhananjaya de Silva has sustained a hamstring injury and his participation in the ODI series against India beginning on Sunday will be decided soon, it is learnt.

According to sources close to team management, the 29-year-old all-rounder sustained the injury during a practice session and was sent for the MRI on Friday.

The physio and the trainer are monitoring the injury and will take a final call on whether to play him with the injury. If he misses, he will be the third injury-affected player missing from the squad of 25 announced on Saturday.

Kusal Perera and Binura Fernando have already been declared unfit. However, they may continue to be with the team.

"They are being under the care of our medical team and leaving them out of the bio-secured bubble will hamper their rehabilitation", the source, speaking exclusively over the team, said.

In the meantime, Shane McDermott, the foreigner fielding coach has joined the bio-bubble. The local coach Manoj Abeywickrama may continue to be with the team as an additional support staff member.
