Harsha de Silva, Sri Lanka’s former first-class all-rounder and national women’s team coach in two different stints (20102014 and 2018-2020), has been appointed as Director of Cricket of Wynnum Manly District Cricket Club (WMDCC), based in Brisbane, Australia.

“The WMDCC is proud to announce Harsha de Silva’s appointment as the Director of Cricket,” the club president Graham Mapri, speaking exclusively over the telephone from Australia, said.

“Harsha obviously needs no introduction as he has held various coaching roles for the Sea Eagles both previously and currently. Harsha’s gentlemanly nature and extensive coaching experience will once again be a great asset to our club this coming season.”

“A little-known fact is that Harsha has coached at an amazing four World Cups over his coaching career,” Mapri further added.

The Brisbane-based club has produced several international cricketers in the likes of Gary Cosier, Greg Ritchie, Carl Rackemann, John Maguire, Adam Dale, Stuart Law, Peter George and Ben Laughlin who have played international cricket for the men’s team and Julia Price and Sally Cooper who have represented the women’s national team.
