All-rounder Shehan Jayasuriya will no longer be available to represent Sri Lanka after deciding to relocate to the United States of America, Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) said in a statement on Friday.
“National player Shehan Jayasuriya, who represented Sri Lanka in both ODIs and T20i formats have informed SLC, that he will no longer be available for the selection of domestic or international cricket tournaments with immediate effect,” the statement read.
“Jayasuriya has taken this decision, as he has decided to relocate to United States of America with his family to settle in that country,” it added.
The 29-year-old Jayasuriya came into the team as an exciting young prospect, making his international debut in a T20I against Pakistan and then in ODI cricket, when West Indies toured Sri Lanka later that year, but his presence in the team was sporadic since.
He played 12 ODIs and 10 T20Is in a four-and-a-half year span, with his last international match coming against the West Indies last year.
Jayasuriya also featured for the Galle Gladiators franchise in the Lanka Premier League (LPL) late last year, and was an integral part of their run to the finals.
