Sri Lanka Athletics (SLA) is set to stage the Junior Nationals Athletic Championship (2023) from May 7-10 at Mahinda Rajapaksa Sports Complex, Diyagama.
This Championship will serve as the final selection trial for the 20th Asian Junior (U-20) Athletic Championship in Incheon, South Korea (June 4-7) and first Selection trial for the Commonwealth Youth Games in Belfast, Trinidad and Tobago (August 1-10), SLA Acting Secretary Palitha Jayathilaka told ‘Daily Mirror’.
SLA has received a quota of eight athletes from the Asian Athletic Association for the Asian Junior Athletic Championship.
The Commonwealth Games Association will set the qualifying standards for the Commonwealth Youth Games.
Out 1500 athletes set to take part in the Junior Nationals, 1178 are women.
