Kaya Daluwatte ended second among the Girls and Reshan Algama finished on 13th position while Jacob Norton ended on 15th overall among the Boys’ at the Thai Amateur Junior World Golf Championships 2024, which concluded at the Hua Hin Golf Course.
Both Algama and Norton, after an ordinary first day, fought back into the top 15 among the leading junior golfers in the Asian region. Further, all these three youngsters can feature for another two years at the same tournament.
In the highly competitive Girls’ segment, Kaya delivered a top-class performance, finishing with an impressive second place. The tournament saw fierce battle for the top spot, with Chuc An Lee emerging as the champion from Vietnam, holding onto a narrow lead with a gross score of 297. Kaya was right on her heels, just one stroke behind with a gross score of 298.
Both Lee and Kaya’s exceptional performances contributed to an exciting finale and the tournament undoubtedly set the stage for a bright future for these young golfers.
Meanwhile, the Boys’ segment featured intense competition with N. Srichathpiran claiming the top position with an outstanding gross score of 292. His consistent play throughout the tournament earned him the championship title, underscoring his status as an emerging talent in the sport.
Algama represented his team with determination, finishing 13th on the leaderboard with a gross score of 310. His strategic play placed him in the top half of the highly competitive field, showing his potential to compete at even higher levels in the future.
Jacob Norton also exhibited his talent, finishing 15th with a gross score of 325, reflecting the depth of skills present in this year’s tournament.
