Kingswood College has been given stern warning by the Sri Lanka Schools Rugby Football Association (SLSRFA) after their embarrassing behaviour against Isipathana College last week.
A few Isipathana spectators were left injured following an assault by a section of Kingswood supporters while the referees also had an uneasy stay due to continues verbal abuse from the Kandy side.
“We have had an inquiry over this incident last week and representatives from both Isipathana and Kingswood were present. We have also gone through the report by the referee and Kingswood were given stern warning,” SLSRFA Secretary Nirodha Wijerama told Daily Mirror.
Meanwhile, SLSRFA President Ranjith Chandrasekara astonishingly claimed that further misbehaviour would see them being eliminated from tournament.
“What we have to understand is that rugby is a contact sport and naturally players could involve in arguments and a bit of pushing and that sort of things, but what happened against Isipathana with spectators losing their mind was unacceptable and any further incidents like that may force them out of the tournament,” claimed Chandrasekara.
