During the opening day of the Boxing Day Test between India and Australia at the Melbourne Cricket Ground yesterday, there was an unexpected incident between Virat Kohli and
Sam Konstas.

As the young Australian was walking towards the non-striker’s end after completing an over, he accidentally brushed shoulders with Kohli.

The moment quickly became tense, with both players exchanging heated words. Kohli, known for his intense on-field demeanour, was visibly agitated.

However, Konstas, despite being in his debut Test showed remarkable composure and focussed on his game.

Usman Khawaja, Konstas’s opening partner, stepped in to calm things down, placing an arm around Kohli to diffuse the situation. The umpires also intervened to ensure the incident did not escalate further.

Reactions to this episode have been mixed. Some commentators felt that Kohli should have handled the situation better, considering his experience and leadership role. Others believed that it was simply an unfortunate accident, with neither player being at fault.

Despite the confrontation, Konstas continued to play with confidence and determination, leaving a strong impression on his debut. The incident added an extra layer of drama to the already intense match, highlighting the competitive spirit of both teams.
